    • As one of the standard items required to be a fully dressed man in the 18th century, making the appropriate choice is important. This particular length of waistcoat comes into men's fashion during the 1760s, at the end of the French & Indian War and prior to the American Revolution. The solid middle-weight wool in any of the three colors is appropriate for anywhere in the middle-class impression. In other words, the average working-class person would be able to wear this waistcoat. The cotton lining is durable and the gas back buttons cut a fine line down the front of the torso and adorn both of the working pockets. Wear this over a white linen-cotton shirt and under a coat or jacket to complete the ensemble as a gentleman.

To accurately measure for a 1760s waistcoat, wearing an 18th-century shirt or a regular T-shirt, take a fabric tape measure around the middle of the chest and round up to the next inch. Also, measure around the widest part of your abdomen. If this number is larger please contact us for sizing help and suggestions.

For example: If your chest measures 44.5 inches, order a size 46. If your chest measures 44 inches exactly, you would order a size 44.

FIT: For a correct 18th-century style, if it buttons, it fits. While the shirts are large and flowy, the waistcoats are snug to the body. As long as you can button the buttons, it should be snug.

Love the color and the quality. They shipped very quickly. My son loves the color and and the fit. I plan to order other items from this company in the near future.

    Great fit.

My first purchase of a reproduction historic garment and I must say fits better than most modern clothing. Love the buttons and functional pockets. A remarkably dark navy blue I might have thought I received a black coat had I not brought it into a brighter lit room.

    Excellent!

1760’s Waistcoat is excellent quality and fits great. I wish they made a brown. We are starting to do reenactments with Rogers’ Rangers and need woodland colors, I will get another one immediately if they did! This is my waistcoat for Sons of the American Revolution events as well, showing leading up to the revolution and beginning years of the conflict.
