Stem length is about 5.25 inches to the base of the bowl (about 3.125 to the beginning of banding). The bowl is almost identical to one found in the midden at Mt Vernon except for the small fern on the bottom front of the bowl is a maker's mark on the fragment.

I picked up two of Samson Historical's fluted shell clay pipes, mainly to give them a try. I'm a bit odd - I actually like smoking clays. Where many purveyors sell clays that turn brittle with use or at latest on the first cleaning, these are holding up nicely! So, if you're in need of a clay, or a tavern pipe, I'd whole-heartedly recommend one of SH's offerings.
Excellent! Wonderful reproductions and affordable prices. We intend to purchase many other items.
