Flint is used to strike against a steel striker to create sparks for starting fires. Fun fact: the flint is shaving off small pieces of the striker and the energy transfer creates the spark.

I ordered a piece and it it came in it was about two and a half inches long and a inch wide, had plenty of sharp edges to help cast sparks.

I ordered flint rock from another company and received pieces of soft white flint rock that wouldn't spark. These were not that way at all and I am happy with them.
